SVT Emergency Release Couplers are integral parts of most loading systems. Self-monitoring of the loading arm helps to quickly detect imminent emergency situations caused by a tanker drifting off and trigger the automatic release of the coupler.
By providing this capability, SVT Emergency Release Couplers protect your personnel, loading equipment and the environment and represent a sound investment in safety.

SVT Emergency Release Couplers can operate in temperatures from -320.8 °F to +482 °F (-196 °C to +250 °C). They can be made from various materials to suit all kinds of fluids, whether toxic, aggressive, or explosive. SVT Emergency Release Couplers can also be fitted with liners and/or heaters to handle extremely challenging substances.

SVT Emergency Release Couplers are vacuum-tested and suitable for high-pressure applications.

SVT Emergency Release Couplers consist of two ball valves and a releasable clamp that holds the two valves tightly together. Ball valves offer the only way to minimize pressure drop at full bore. At the same time, they are the only valves that provide maximum protection from fluid hammer.

They are also specially designed to minimize spill volume on separation.

The upper ball valve can be configured to close separately with an adjustable closing time if needed to meet additional process requirements. This has no impact on the SVT Emergency Release Coupler, however. Its functioning is unrelated to the closing of the upper ball valve.

Unlike other systems, SVT Emergency Release Couplers have only one hydraulic drive cylinder.

Their special geometric design ensures that, if activated, the ball valves will close before the clamp is released. This mechanical interlock system guarantees the ball valves are always completely closed before the clamp is opened and the coupler is disconnected. In addition, the system is designed to minimize the likelihood of failure and thus maximize the availability of the safety device. All SVT Emergency Release Couplers are suitable for SIL classifications.

SVT Emergency Release Couplers come with special testing clamps for testing the complete safety circuit without performing an actual disconnection. This eliminates the need to test it on a test flange. After a disconnection, the entire disconnection mechanism can be easily reassembled in only a few minutes.

SVT Emergency Release Couplers are available in nominal bores of 4" to 20" (10.2 cm to 50.8 cm) and are certified to relevant international standards.

Operators often want to reduce the weight of gas lines and loading arms for tank trucks and tank railcars. In these cases, SVT Emergency Release Couplers can be designed with another disconnection mechanism in which spring force instantly closes both ends of the pipe when the clamp is released. These SVT Emergency Release Couplers also offer minimal pressure drop at full bore as well as minimal spill volume on disconnection. They can be operated hydraulically or mechanically and are quick and easy to reassemble after disconnection. Lightweight SVT Emergency Release Couplers are available for nominal bores of 2" to 10" (5 cm to 25.4 cm), temperatures from -320.8 °F to +482 °F (-196 °C to +250 °C) and all fluids, whether toxic, aggressive, or explosive.
